Learn about Swedish Weaving in this Round Robin workshop. You will weave a variety of traditional Swedish fabric samples suitable for tablecloths, runners, rugs, towels, curtains, and bedspreads. Some of the samples are turned rosepath, lace, plain weave checks, rep, a Swedish snowflake, fancy twills, and honeycomb, to name a few. Setts range from 8 epi (Krokbragd) to 80 epi (40 doubled ends for rep.) Students will weave with cottons and some linen and wool. You will need to bring your pre-warped floor or table loom to the MAG for this workshop, as well as your lunch and beverages. (A refrigerator and microwave are available to use.)
Materials fee includes:
Notebook with the drafts, treadlings, extensive bibliography, notes
Pre-wound bobbins required for draft weft to make samples before workshop
All the warp and weft threads
Pre-workshop packets will be shipped to the MAG and distributed prior to the workshop
Deborah (Debbie) Todhunter has been teaching weaving workshops in the Southeast for over 12 years on a diverse range of topics: Shadow Weave, the Miniature Overshot of Estes and Hayes, Swedish structures, and checked fabrics. She also knits, tats, and makes bobbin lace -- interests that all started at a young age -- and spinning came later! Debbie enjoys researching structures, ferreting out obscure resources, and sharing the knowledge with her students.
When you register, indicate what brand you loom is, width & how many shafts. Please email us at email@example.com if you need to use a MAG loom. This is a round robin, so everyone will get a change on each loom, but you will be warping your “own” loom before class begins.
