This position is responsible for providing maximum service to the membership by assisting members with scheduling of field engineering activities, provide guidance/assistance concerning a variety of WKRECC and TVA member programs, and maintain work order process to ensure a continued efficiency of the engineering department. This position is also responsible for providing prompt, efficient, and accurate information to the membership in a courteous manner concerning policies, procedures and engineering specifications to encourage the most beneficial use of electricity.

Essential Functions Statement (s)

  • Provide resources to engineering department team members.
  • Schedules/assigns field-engineering activities including staking associated with new service requests, service upgrades, work orders, etc.
  • Function as a link between Engineering, Operations, and other Cooperative departments to ensure work order requests from field operations is integrated with new/upgrade service work orders in a timely and efficient manner.
  • Maintain work order process to ensure adequate education and communication of engineering staking team members is achieved.
  • Advises members on problems related to providing practical means of service.
  • Provide internal and external assistance with the various TVA and WKRECC residential, commercial and industrial member programs (i.e., home energy audits, energy efficiency, load curtailment, heat pump financing, Residential Energy Audit Program, etc.).
  • Assist with the execution the Cooperative’s programs to plan, inspect, and commission interconnections of member-owned distributive energy and generation resources between the member and the Cooperative to ensure that the interconnection adheres to the appropriate industry standards and practices.
  • Maintains knowledge of current rates, policies, rules, codes, and procedures in order to better serve cooperative members and maintain a high work performance level.
  • Perform all other duties assigned by supervision and management.

 

POSITION QUALIFICATIONS

  • Proficiency with computer and calculator and have the ability to calculate basic math
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Friendly and personable in all situations
  • Maintain a pleasant demeanor, be able to remain calm under pressure and have the ability to refrain from becoming defensive in stressful situations
  • Maintain confidentiality with sensitive personal information and respect members’ rights to privacy
  • Ability to understand and interpret figures and ability to explain the information to others
  • Ability to understand industry standards and codes (i.e., NEC, NESC, etc.) and apply regulatory requirements to domestic, commercial, and industrial power systems
  • Learn and utilize all existing and new forms of software
  • Ability to work in a team environment
  • Must be available for offsite training per job demands
  • Work at multiple locations within the Cooperative as needed
  • Represent West Kentucky in a professional manner

 

SKILLS & ABILITIES

 

  • Education: Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, business, or related degree (with specialized electrical certified training)
  • Experience: 3+ years of electric utility experience preferred
  • Computer Skills:
    • Proficient knowledge of Microsoft Office, Project, Visio, and other PC software packages
  • Other Requirements

 

  • Must comply with West Kentucky Rural Electric Cooperative employment eligibility requirements, including the possibility of providing satisfactory results from a physical examination by a medical physician of the utility’s choice. Such examination will include drug testing.
  • Must be able to distinguish different colors
  • Must be able to complete independent work in unsupervised settings and collaborative work in team settings as assigned.
  • Must be able to traverse open field or similar rugged terrain.
  • Must be able to lift, carry, push, and pull weights up to 30 pounds.
  • Must be able to communicate fluently and effectively.

Must have and maintain a valid Kentucky driver’s license
