SALARY:$18.41-20.63/hr (nonexempt)

DESCRIPTION:

Under general direction, performs accounts receivable duties for the utility and general fund; schedules service orders; performs customer service related work as required.


ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Assists customers with completion of application for service; processes new services for customers; receives deposits from customers; processes work orders.
  • Accepts all forms of payment from customers; matches payments and stubs; posts to customer accounts; balances cash drawer at the end of the day.
  • Greets customers in person and via telephone concerning a variety of matters; assists with billing issues; handles inquiries, complaints, and/or problems of customers, or forwards to higher authority when appropriate.
  • Runs, maintains, and monitors cut-offs list; insures that services are reconnected after receipt of payment.
  • Assists with processing mail and night deposit.
  • Answers switchboard and transfers calls.
  • Scans and files paperwork.
  • Processes payments for business licenses.
  • Assists other personnel as requested.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

Graduation from high school or equivalent required.

Two years related work experience preferred.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

Instructions are somewhat general; many aspects of the work are covered specifically, but must also use own judgment some of the time.

Occasionally must consider different courses of action, or deviate from standard operating procedures, to get the job done.

Supervisor spot-checks completed work.

Duties are somewhat routine in nature.

Work is typically performed in an office, sitting at a desk or table; intermittent standing or walking; must lift objects weighing less than twenty-five (25) pounds as a requirement of the job. Will regularly reach, grip, grasp, and use normal dexterity; see, listen and speak.

Normal office equipment (adding machine, computer, postage machine, telephone, fax machine, copy machine).

Frequent public and internal contacts requiring tact and diplomacy are requirements of the job.

Regular use of confidential information.

Must be willing to work overtime as needed.

Must be bondable.
