
Driver Payroll Administrator
Summary: Processes weekly payroll in a timely and accurate manner. Including processing and balancing: Payroll costs, reports, paychecks, time off requests, new employee information, and communicating with employees regarding payroll matters
Major Duties:
- Process review and balance weekly payroll edits and reports
- Processes, reviews, and balances payroll edits
- Calculates vacation payments, tacks and maintains balances
- Enters and maintains payroll information for new employees, such as new hire information, W-4, and payroll options
- Files and oversees all reports and information relating to payroll
- Communicates with employees regarding questions, problems, and changes in payroll information
- Maintains and updates files regarding court ordered garnishments and levies
- Corresponds and communicates with other PTL departments and various external agencies regarding payroll matters
- Maintains confidentiality and uses discretion in communicating with others on payroll related matters
- Converses on telephone while taking notes and entering data on computer. Must possess excellent organizational skills, paying particular attention to detail and accuracy.
- Calculates and posts employee earnings including overtime, commissions, and incentive bonus payments.
- Calculates and posts all required and voluntary pay deductions which involve multi-state tax deductions, or other withholdings.
- Prepares regularly scheduled reports to various governmental and other outside agencies regarding organization payment of various taxes, group insurance premiums, and related filings
- Performs other, related duties as directed by management
Job Requirements/Work Area Conditions:
Education: Associates degree in Accounting or Finance a plus, but not required
Experience: 3 years related experience
Type of Experience: Accounting, Finance, Payroll
Special Skills:
Must be able to read and speak English sufficiently to converse with the general public and other employees, to respond to inquiries, to make entries on reports and records and to understand various forms of written communication.
Ability to read, write, and perform simple mathematical calculations.
Self-motivation, able to work with a minimal amount of supervision.
Must be a team player who will support other staff and do whatever is necessary to get the job done.
Must have familiarity with payroll procedures and taxes.
Must have excellent organizational skills, paying particular attention to detail and accuracy.
Familiarity with trucking industry is preferable.
Ability to define problem, analyze alternatives and identify solution.
Physical: Sedentary, 8-9 hours at a desk with occasional breaks.
