Human Resources Representative
Salary: $22.53 – $24.75/hour
Overtime: Nonexempt

Description:
Under departmental direction, assists with planning, organizing, coordinating human resources related activities and programs; performs related work as required.
Essential Duties:
• Assists with recruitment, testing and selection process of personnel in accordance with federal, state and administrative regulations and in accordance with the City of Murray policies manual.
• Conducts new hire orientation providing explanation of city's benefits, policies, procedures, as well as the drug and alcohol-free policy.
• Supports employees in benefit enrollment programs and establishes personnel and other required files for the employee.
• Files workers compensation claims and coordinating liability issues with carrier and involved party.
• Aid in coordinating and tracking participation in training programs.
• Facilitates internal investigation and prepares documentation for disciplinary action.
• Collaborates with payroll to ensure the accurate usage/documentation of paid and unpaid approved LOAs.
• Support employee’s understanding of city policies and/or procedures.
• Assists with exit interviews and advising departments and agencies of employment status changes.
• Ensures the confidentially of personnel records, including the completion of forms as requested or required.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications:
• Bachelor’s degree in human resources/business or other related area - preferred.
• Two years related work experience - required.
• Must possess a valid drivers’ license.
Knowledge:
• Thorough knowledge of human resources theories, practices, methods, techniques, principles.
• Knowledge of federal, state and local laws and administrative regulations plus city policies and procedures related to human resource administration.
• Knowledge of insurance industry (including but not limited to unemployment, workers compensation and liability).
• Thorough knowledge of computer hardware and related software programs.
Abilities:
• Ability to analyze positions for recruitment and to develop valid employee selection tools.
• Ability to resolve complex problems in the area of employee selection, grievances, as well as general policies and procedures.
• Ability to research and provide relevant feedback/provide ideas/think innovatively.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationship with city officials, employees and the general public.
• Must be able to effectively communicate with customers, co-workers, and supervision.
Additional Information:
Physical Requirements of the Job: Work is typically performed indoors and involves sitting at a desk or table; work requires intermittent standing, walking, stooping; bending, climbing; reaching, gripping, grasping; must lift objects up to 25 pounds; may be exposed to environmental elements in the collection and processing of information.
Availability: Candidate must be available for overtime as needed.
