Salary: $21.53 - $24.55/hour

Overtime: Nonexempt

Under general direction, performs routine maintenance on virtual servers, standing up of new virtual servers, and other duties as required.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES:

  • Installing, configuring, and maintaining server hardware and software systems.
  • Administer and support both Windows Server and Linux servers for various services and applications.
  • Ensure high availability, and redundancy across all server platforms where applicable.
  • Conduct routine system performance tuning, monitoring, and patch management.
  • Create and maintain accurate documentation of systems, processes, and procedures.
  • Routinely validate server backups to ensure data integrity and confirm alignment with the organizations disaster recovery policy.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Graduation from high school or equivalent.
  • Driver’s License - required.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES:

  • Knowledge of Windows Server, and Windows Server Core.
  • Basic knowledge of Microsoft SQL Server.
  • Basic knowledge of Linux.
  • Knowledge of Hyper-V, and ESXI.
  • Basic understanding of networking concepts.
  • Understanding of high-availability concepts in relation to Windows Server and Linux.

ADDITIONAL REQUIREMENTS:

  • Somewhat general; many aspects of work are covered specifically, but must also use some of own judgment.
  • Work varies slightly and seldom required to take different, new or unusual approaches in completing job duties.
  • Most or all of completed work is reviewed.
  • Decisions are based on broad knowledge and applications of advanced techniques/concepts are required.
  • Work is primarily indoors in an airconditioned environment; must lift heavy objects (more than 25 pounds, occasional 100 pounds with assistance); must have good use of hands arms; must be able to walk, stoop, bend, squat, crawl; ability to see, listen, speak and understand.
  • Hand tools, normal office equipment (telephone, desktop, laptop, etc.)
  • Regular contacts with other city officers and employees; occasional contacts with public.
  • High use of confidential information.
  • Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at all hours.
  • Must successfully complete required annual training.
  • Non-exempt.
