**Job posting is for a certified or uncertified telecommunications officer** Under general direction, operates telephone and two-way radio in the receipt and transmission of police, fire, and other emergency units; dispatches equipment as necessary; performs related work as required. | |
ESSENTIAL DUTIES: | |
Non-essential: Answers phone and dispatches after hours for city services (gas, water, electric). | |

Knowledge
Abilities Ability to do multiple duties simultaneously. Ability to work in a high stress position. Ability to remain calm during emergency situations. Ability to prioritize calls. Ability to analyze complex situations and execute effective courses of action. Ability to communicate effectively, orally and in writing. Ability to type; ability to operate computer terminal. Availability: Must be able to work irregular hours on assigned shift. Physical Requirements of the Job: Physical Demands: Work is performed indoors at a console, desk, or table. Must have normal use of hands and arms, normal dexterity, ability to sit for long periods. Must be able to speak, hear, understand. Must lift objects weighing less than 25 lbs. Must use console, radio, telephone, and normal office equipment (computer, copier, etc.) Overtime Provision: nonexempt.
