Wastewater Plant Operator
Salary: $17.40 – $19.63/hour
Overtime: Nonexempt

Description:
Under general supervision, assists in the daily operation and maintenance of the wastewater plant, involving the collection and treatment of wastewater; performs related work as required.
Essential Duties:
Assists in the daily operation of the wastewater plant, including start-up and/or shut-down of plant and equipment, involving collection and distribution of
wastewater in compliance with established procedures and standards and federal and state laws and administrative regulations.
Monitors and reports on operation of lift stations in accordance with established standards.
Assists with inspection and/or monitoring of pumps, charts, gages and meters daily.
Adds chemicals in accordance with prescribed standards; assist lab personnel in collection of wastewater samples; checks proper adjustment of feeder
equipment; adjusts chemicals as necessary.
Cleans filters and disposes of residual solids.
Prepares and maintains accurate reports/records.
Forwards wastewater samples and reports as required.
Conducts process control testing; analyzes results and adjusts process controls as required.
Assists with maintaining adequate inventory of spare parts, chemicals, equipment and tools.
Assists with minor construction projects.
Assists with cleaning of plant and grounds.
Attends continuing education programs.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Graduation from high school or equivalent (GED) - required.
- Driver’s License – required.
- Kentucky Class I Wastewater Treatment Plant Operators License within first 18 months of employment – required.
- Previous applicable experience – preferred.

Physical Requirements of the Job: Work involves sitting at a desk or table; work is performed outdoors regardless of weather conditions, requiring intermittent standing, walking, stooping; must lift objects over 50 lbs.; must operate vehicle and equipment; exposed to machinery and its moving parts; required to be in high places, confined spaces, and using stairs and ladders; exposed to fumes, chemicals and toxic substances as a requirement of the job.
Tools, Equipment and Vehicles Used: Construction and/or mechanical tools and equipment (hand tools, power tools, etc.), laboratory equipment, normal office equipment (phone, computer, calculator, etc.), chemical feeders, safety equipment, vehicles.
Availability: Must be able to respond to calls in emergency situations at all hours.
Certification Requirements: Must be willing to receive Class II through Class IV license if offered and required after meeting experience requirements for each class license.
